Beer Can Appreciation Day

Beer Can Appreciation Day

Beer comes in a can it was put there by a man.

January 24th is a day to appreciate the wonderful metal contraption that holds our favorite brews. Back in 1935, January 24 was the first day beer was available to be purchased in a can.

To celebrate, we thought we would share a few reasons why we love cans, and why they are a superior holder of beer.

Air Tight

Compared to glass bottles, or growlers the seal in an aluminum can has a sure fire seal.

They Keep Beer on the Dark Side

There is some pretty cool research that says a beer gets skunked because of its exposure to light not temperature variations. So a vessel that doesn’t let any light in ensures the least skunkified beer possible.

They are Beautiful

Some can labels are worthy of space on the wall of an art gallery. In fact last summer there was a celebration of beer label art at a New Haven art gallery.

The Sound Has Few Rivels

Popping a tab is a satisfying sound

They Are Earth Friendly

Aluminum is a very recyclable product. In fact, aluminum is really the only product that economically makes sense to recycle. So make sure you get that nickle or place your cans in your recycling bin.

Cans have become a standard in the craft beer world and we couldn’t be happier about it.
