Few things help to move your mindset to the next season like food and drink. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs in the summer, pumpkin pie in the fall, Christmas cookies, corned beef and cabbage, and the list goes on. This is very true of beers - nothing gets me in the mood for Halloween quite like a pumpkin brew and the appearance of light spring beers tells me that winter may be over soon.

Beer: This wheat ale is super light and very crushable. There is a ton of bright and citrusy hop aroma but there is very little bitterness in the beer. If I had to guess I would say less than 10 ibus, making it a very light beer, but loaded with taste. I got a few bread notes and the hops are bright, floral, and full of citrus, providing m just a small bite of bitter to balance the malt. Aptly named, this beer is a perfect beer for one of those first warm days of spring (I hope to see one of those again one day).

Cookie: Ok, fair warning, these cookies are advertised as a low calorie cookie. Usually i hate these kinds of things, but these are very good. Loads of buttery crunch taste in the small chocolate chip cookies. Maybe their modest size is accounts for the marketing.

Pairing: I figured a light springy beer to go with these small airy cookies would be a great pairing for the first day of spring. They work together well. The beer is light and washes down the crumbs of the very thin, crispy cookie. I’ll be getting down on both of these as the days get longer and the afternoons get warmer. Here’s to an end to this lousy S’march weather.
