Hoax’s Long Day Low Pay with Sift’s Sea Salt Chocalte Chip Walnut Cookie

Hoax is brewing out of the think tank over at the Beeracks. They have such a cool collaborative scene over there. In my experience, the more collaboration the better. Overshores, Armada, Hulls, and Hoax are killing it the brew game on all different levels and in different ways. Check them out if you haven’t.

The Beer: Onto the beer! Hoax’s Long Day Low Pay is an American Pale Ale. It is a single hop focused on the Wakatu hop. There is a fair amount of lime and citrus in the hop finish, some citrus aroma and a very nice balance. Kind of a simple beer but an awesome gateway beer for sure. If you shared this beer with your domestic beer drinking cousin who judges your craft beer choices, they might just turn into a believer and say, “Oh! Beer can be good!”

 The Cookie: I love a culinary experience that provides a full flavor blast. Every flavor that a Chocolate Chip Cookie could have this cookie from Sift is rocking. It is slightly buttery, soft, crisp, chocoaltely, small walnut chunks, mildly salty, crunchy edges, with a sweet roundness you expect from a cookie like this.

The Pairing: The salty note in the cookie was punched up by the lime and citrus in the beer, it was a most excellent experience tasting a cookie at a brewery. The mild beer washed down this cookie like they were meant for each other. It was also a pairing we had after an afternoon of tasting and drinking. So, I felt a little like I was slurring my way through this one. Hanging at a brewery with metal music jamming, a friendly bartender, some new friends sharing the bar, led to a great experience.
