Stony Creek Brewing Co.

On the water in Branford this brewery is beautiful and has a number of very good beers. Like walking to the end of a dock you have to walk along a wooden deck to enter. This is a happening place and it has a beautiful deck that is hopping in the summer time as well as plenty of room inside that fills up in the winter (and all other season). They have struck a nice balance between atmosphere, quality beer, and a local following.

Their tap list has a number of quality ‘Cranky’ IPAs but they also brew ‘La garza’ which is a Mexi-Cali lager for the beer drinker looking for something more mild but also very tasty. I have visited Stony Creek a number of times, and I have yet to be disappointed.

Their beer selection is beginning to be more available in Connecticut liquor stores as well,  we were able to purchase the Orange Juiced IPA for our angenette tasting and the Double Ruffled IPA for our Orange-Oatmeal cookies at a local shop.

 “The baby shower is upstairs.”

Good friends of ours decided to break the mold of the standard all ladies, stuffy, gift focused, baby shower to throw a celebration of life with their friends and family to share the joy of the baby that is on the way. Honestly I don’t have a whole lot of experience attending baby showers, but this one was definitely the best one I’ve been too.

At Stony Creek in Branford there is a space upstairs available to rent for parties, and we filled it with friends, baby balloons, beer, and there were most definitely cookies. The upstairs room has access to a second tier of decking above the outside area that is accessible from the open bar area of the taproom downstairs. It was a beautiful space and a beautiful day. The food was great, the beer was cold, and the cookies were crumbly making this a really fun time. If you have a reason to throw a party here, you shouldn’t hesitate. The deck itself is worth the price of admission.

Cheers to new life.
