Creature Preacher

Counterweight has been crushing quality IPAs that have awesome hop profiles with some great balanced flavor. I haven’t had this one yet but with the success of Headway, Wizard fight, and Counterpunch I’m excited to see the next offering from one of my favorite breweries. If you haven’t been here yet, let this new brew which is brewed with Citra and Galaxy with lots of papaya and ripe mango be the reason.

Nodhill: Magic Mailbox

When I think of Nod Hill, I think of well executed beers with a little something special. This beer seems to be exactly that. This is a Belgian style witbier brewed with hibiscus flowers, a little tart refreshing summery beer. And look at that foamy head full of yuuuum. I wish I had a magic mailbox that would have a bottle of this waiting for me.

Armada and Erector NHVIPA Gold and Black

Armada is one of the many breweries operating out of the Beeracks, and along with the guys at Erector, they have released a series of NHVIPAs. The NHV is for New Haven, if you didn’t guess, each with a different color and a different hop variety highlighted. The black is all galaxy and the gold is all Nelson sauvin. I also love the big ALE reminiscent of that Ivy League New Haven school. Get to the Beeracks for a good time and some good beer.

Front Porch What I Need To Survive

Front porch is a little brewery in Wallingford. Their character and beers blow away their tiny space.  They hosted an art contest for the label of this beer and I think they made the right choice here. What fun! This is definitely a place to keep your eye on and their other offerings are pretty great. Their Fingee Guns sour IPA is spot on and Reverse Mermaid is a quality beer too - I see their schwartz has grown. So this next canning of a double IPA has me excited to head back to Front Porch. Last time I was there they had a full house for a "The Office" themed trivia night. In a week or so they are having an original trilogy Star Wars themed trivia, so I'm gonna have to clear my calendar.

Remember this is just a sample of the great beer our little state has to offer this weekend.  If you’re excited about a new brew shoot us a message or email at: ctbeerandcookies@gmail.com and let us know maybe it will make our next weekend round up. Get out there and enjoy the beer Connecticut has to offer.
