The Weekend Roundup #2 Labor Day Edition

The Weekend Roundup #2 Labor Day Edition

Our second weekend round up is setting you up for a sweet Labor Day weekend. This is the last hurrah of the summer and the Connecticut beer trail will not disappoint. Each brewery name is a link to their website and the beer name is a link to the specific beer info, usually the source of the pic.

Hoax Brewing: Lemtrails

Being released Friday the 31st over at the Beeracks this IPA should pack a lemony punch. A perfect summer IPA for the BBQ to end all other 2018 BBQs. I heard the guys from Hoax chatting about this beer on a recent episode of Full Pours Radio a great CT craft beer podcast. Check out that episode here

Duvig: Double IPA

Duvig has a very purest, by the book, tradition of brewing beers ‘to style.’ This attitude has led to some quality beer. I haven’t had any IPAs from them yet but I’m certain this one will be worth a sip.

East Rock Brewing Company: Everything

In a craft market overflowing with cans of double and triple IPAs (this blog post included) comes a brewery in New Haven putting out some fine bottles of German style beers. My absolute favorite. I love drinking beers from a bottle too, so I’m doubly excited. I particularly like pony bottle beers, but that’s for another post.

East Rock brewing is the newest brewery on the CT scene and I’m psyched to try what they have to offer. Click this to see all the package stores where their stuff is available. Their tap room isn’t even open yet and they are pumping out the suds, what a wonderful world we live in.

Tribus Beer Company: F#$k It!

10% IPA?! That’s a f#$k ton of alcohol. A pint of this is sure to knock you out. In the words of Tribus, this is a a “sticky, colossal, hazy banger.” I think that’s a beer worth trying. Wouldn’t you agree?

Kent Falls: People Power

The first Helles lager coming from Kent falls. Oh man this is an exciting beer. Love me some Helles and the ‘not just for profit’ part of the Kent falls company attitude is admirable. 10% of profits from this beer will go to the ACLU’s people power campaign which is focusing on getting people registered to vote. What a great cause that should be close to the heart of every American.

Kent falls does such a fine job producing a quality tasty product that I am certain this is going to be a Helle of a beer.

New England Brewing COFuzzy Baby Ducks

Releasing on Saturday 9/1, this all citra IPA is fortunately much easier to come by now than it once was, however it maintains its allusive appeal. Many IPAs are all about experimenting with new hop varieties which are good and interesting, but some times you want the clean and simple goodness of an original.

Shebeen: Blueberry Yum Yum Sour

What are we talking, blueberry? Lemon? We talkin sour? We’re talking yum and YUM. This beer is looking like a perfect Labor Day weekend sipper.  Tart, lemon, blueberry, sounds like a winning combo to me. This probably won’t be hanging around the tap room for too long. The cookie pairing options are significant with this one. I’m thinking maybe some Labor Day weekend pie and a four pack of these little nuggets of yum.

New England Cider Co: Blueberry Hard Cider

All the fruited and barrel aged hard ciders I’ve had from these guys have blown be away. The mint cider tasted like some one muddled mint in my glass, the whiskey barreled aged cider was like a mixed drink, and the strawberry was amazing. They have made this cider before but I missed it. This Labor Day weekend some blueberry cider is sure to hit the spot.

Whether you’re going to big a picnic, hosting a family reunion, or just staying in, make sure you enjoy some yummy Connecticut brews. There are plenty to go around.
