Connecticut Valley Brewing Pathfinder IPA and Savannah Smiles

The Beer: Connecticut Valley is a new brewery for us but I never knew a beer could get you to go out and explore the wild quite like this one. It’s got a very nice balance of the citrusy and tropical hop flavors that I have come to expect from my IPAs, but still present are the piney and woodsy notes in more traditional IPAs. It’s probably the combination of the latter, and the can art, that has me yearning to hit the trail.

The Cookie:  This isn’t our first time writing about these lemon bombs and I can’t say they are my favorite Girl Scout Cookie. However, I do know I liked these much better the second time around now that I knew what to expect.

The Pairing: The slightly bitter character of the IPA is exactly what you need to balance the sweet and citrusy cookies. This is one of those pairings where the cookie actually brings out flavors from the beer that I don’t taste otherwise - in this case some dank and piney notes that I really loved. After a pairing like this, I am looking forward to a summer in the forests.
