Beer’d Whiskered Wit and Sifts Almond Chocolate Cookies

The Beer: Whiskered Wit from Beer’d is a wheat ale loaded with some familair Hefeweizen notes. A little banana and clove, some pleasant wheaty and malty notes with a light refreshing finish. 

The Cookie: We have been over how awesome Sift Bake Shop is, these little cookie sandwiches are just further proof. I was anticipating a crisp crunchy cookie, like a butter cookie, but they are very soft with a nice pop of almond. The chocolate filling is kind of a gaunche, it’s soft with a milk chocolate filling that isn’t as frosting like as I thought it would be. A simple cookie, but full of flavor and surprises. 

The Pairing: This was a nice little partnership. We had a family dinner party and the wives jumped in on tasting this one with us. The chocolate and almond from the cookie worked well with the banana and clove notes. You can tell it was hit by how many left overs there were.
