Firefly Nitro Stout and Chunky Chunk Chocolate Chip

I stopped at The Hops Company for some happy hour apps and drinks. We had a fun time, check out the visit details coming soon.

While we were there I saw these super chunk cookies and the possibilities seemed endless for cookieable beers. I rolled the dice, and things worked out well.

The Beer: The Toadstool Nitro Stout from Firefly hollow is a beer I’ve had in a can before, but there is something quite special about a Nitro on tap. It was light and creamy, it has a really light and dare I say, youthful finish.

It doesn’t have that super heavy, malty bitterness that ruins some stouts for me. Lots of chocolate mocha notes make this beer scrumptious and so good for a cookie.

The Cookie: The woman who served me told me they were Dave’s cookies. I’m not sure if Dave is the dude in the back who makes them, or they are David’s cookies, that frozen cookie company. Either way it was pretty good. Soft and chewy with big pieces of chunky chocolate on top.

The Pairing: We have established that the best beer and cookie pairing so far has been milk stout and chocolate chip, especially if nitro is involved. This one has come the closest to that epiphany moment. I first took a sip of beer and left with a small nitro foam lip I was surprised how much I dug the beer.

Then I took a bite of cookie and it’s softness and big chocolate was perfect with the subtly of the beer. This was a home run for sure.
