Thomas Hooker Marzen Oktoberfest and Pepperidge Farm’s Chessman

The Beer:  I love me some Oktoberfest. Marzen Lager is such a great style of beer, it’s malty, full of flavor, a balanced amber beer that goes down easy. Hooker made this traditional beer that has a long luxurious finish, with tons of complexity.    

The Cookie: Chessman are small square cookies with the symbols for chess pieces pressed into them. They are a butter cookie, which is one of the best cookies really. They are buttery, and a tad flaky. They are perfect dunking cookies for tea, coffee, or milk, but you know… beer is the best option for us. The iconic butter cookie from pepperidge farms is a perfect sweet snack for after hours at the pub or an afternoon tea.

The Pairing: The buttery flaky crunch of the Chessman partner really well with the crisp malty hoppy notes of the Marzen style lager from Thomas Hooker. If you dive into this pairing please let the chessman do some diving too. The beer is a perfect little bath for the cookie.
