Two Roads Workers Stomp and Red Roosters Traditional Sugar Cookie

Two Roads Workers Stomp and Red Roosters Traditional Sugar Cookie

On a winter's evening my little family of four visited some good friends for dinner. We ate meatball grinders watched the kids play, drank beer, and ate cookies. This beer was by far the best we had. The only bad thing about our night together was that I only had one bottle of this exceptional brew.

The Beer: Whoa. Seriously… whoa. This beer is so interesting. Bubbly like Champagne, it is like a good farmhouse ale but also like a very subtle white wine at the same time. Lots of fruit notes, just a little spice, and some very significant white wine presence. This is a variation of the workers comp saison aged in white wine barrels, and I want more. Two roads has been crushing it with this series of limited brews.

The Cookie: A simple cookie from the gourmet cookie shop The Red Rooster in Guilford. This is a thick, soft, doughy cookie with some sweet crystal sprinkles on top. Nothing too extravagant, this cookie has a mild butter flavor and not too much sweetness even though it’s topped with sprinkles.

The Pairing: I do think these two go together well. Although I also think that the red rooster sugar cookie is a bit different than the more crisp and sometimes crunchy sugar cookies of everyone’s youth. A round sugar cookie is kind of sad when it isn’t in some kind of fun shape. So if I were to do this again I would roll out my own yummy sugar cookies for an out-of-this-world beer like the Workers Stomp. These specialty Two Roads beers give me such an optimistic feeling about the future of this brewery.
