The Beer: You know when you eat a raspberry right off of a bush and you bite into the individual berry bulbs along with the seeds, the juice flushes your tongue with juice and the bright sweet flavor, this is exactly what the Van art gose tastes like. It has a little hint of salt that really brightens up the raspberry note. We post a lot of Counterweight stuff, and I always say this, but this one is something special. I passed it up when it came around last and I actually regret that decision.

The Cookie: The cannoli moon rock is soft, cakey and a bit dense in the middle. Check out bakery visit post for some more info about the unique cookie that is the moon rock. What this cookie really has going for it is the closest approximation to an Italian cannoli that I have tasted, and that includes a few actual cannolis. The flavor is so on point.

The Pairing: I’m a cannoli purist - no chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream business allowed. I find that the beauty of the treat is it’s pure simplicity. I know many feel differently and I could never see their point of view, until this pairing. The fruit note in the beer, with the cannoli cookie make me rethink my stance. Have I been wrong all this time?
